This seminar is tailored to revise some Foucault’s ideas about pedagogy and education and the ways its work in general has been used by some researchers in Latin America to think of some practices related to knowledge production and education subjects. As a part of the revision it will also include some authors from the decolonial thought who have worked on some Foucault ideas to improve them or criticized them.

This seminar will serve as a conceptual horizon to think of education in ELT field, in which participants will relate their concerns and problems to power-knowledge relations, subjugated knowledges (pedagogy) and subjects (teachers and students). Examine Foucault’s work in relation to education, pedagogy and the governmentally practices. Although Foucault did not work on decoloniality, his concerns about power and the ways subjects are constituted as subjects revealed some bio power technologies and its effects for colonization.
