Doctoral programs in mathematics education analyze and research any situation affecting the mathematical training of all members of society, and the development of mathematics in every culture. In Latin America, particularly in Colombia, economic and violence, situations arise new challenges for doctoral research in mathematics education. These phenomena require directors of doctoral research, high-quality professional and social commitment. This paper is a tribute to Bruno D'Amore from Interinstitutional Doctorate in Education, which it is composed of Distrital Francisco Jose de Caldas University, Valle University, and National Pedagogical University.
